Lisheen T2602

Lisheen T2602 is sired by Lisheen P26. P26 is an impressive big 1000kg multi trait sire with a quality pedigree and an ever improving ebv profile. Carcass data from Steer progeny of P26 will soon be available. P26 sired steers proved to be the most feed efficient in their feeding group. T2602’s Dam (Q2) is a fine boned, medium to large framed young cow. She has a quality pedigree being sired by Sumo L153 (Sumo F154 son) and her dam has TF147 and TF151 in her recent pedigree. Q2 does suffer from low milk as her ebv suggests but she showed good maternal instincts and raised T2602 to weaning without any creep feeding or additional feed.

T2602 has an even ebv profile with P26 being used to improve numerical deficiencies in the Dam’s ebv and trait profile. With bulls like TF148, TF151, Sumo Michifuku 154 and 126 in his profile, it is surprising to me that T2602 carcass ebvs are only around breed average. His profile suggests to me that his ebvs should be better. T2602 should grow into a larger framed bull with a quality pedigree and ebv profile that make him suitable to many breeding applications. He will be fertility tested and freeze branded in the coming months (before June 2024).
